More About Sarah
I am a native of Wisconsin who studied business at University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Growing up, I would often accompany my mother when she visited various glass and gift shops, and museums in our family’s travels. Those visits instilled in me a love of color and how sunlight plays on reflected surfaces, and how the light spectrum shines through glass objects. Since then I have always been drawn to the beauty and variety of glass arts. My years in residence in Maryland provided me with an opportunity to appreciate and learn the art of creating my own designs of stained glass pieces.
Moving to California offered a chance to open a business, “Sarah’s Studio”, where I worked with clients designing custom stained glass windows to install in their residences.
In 1992, I moved to North Carolina with my family. I relocated my business, “Innovative Stained Glass”, to handle the numerous custom stained glass orders. With over 25 years of experience, my specialties include the creation of individually designed windows, hanging pieces, lamps and boxes fabricated in the Louis M. Tiffany technique.
I have expanded my art to include creative kiln-formed glass designs, including: draped vases, slumped plates, Japanese style platters, bowls, wall art, manipulated frogs and turtles, as well as jewelry. I have attended week long glass seminars in Portland, Oregon (2007 & 2008), studying with world renowned glass artists to further expand my knowledge and talent creating with glass medium. I have been juried into various exhibits and have been in the Cary News and Raleigh News & Observer. My works are in collections nationwide.
